20/3

20/3 is not date, nor is it some measurement, nor some street number. It is the one of the articles given in our constitution. Article 20(3).
20. Protection in respect of conviction for offences
(3) No person accused of any offence shall be compelled to be a witness against himself.

Is this a boon or bane???
The article says that the accused cannot be compelled to be a witness against himself. But suppose if a murder is commited and the law would want to prove the accused guilty. How can they until they have a solid witness??When there are no witness and we don't find the dead man walking to give himself as the witness, the last resort would be to use the accused as witness. So they go for lie detectors and other phsycological analysis. So this is a bane for law forces if we have to follow according to the article.
In the present scenario where the people try to find loop holes in our law bodies and constitution this is definitely a bane!!!!! The Indian society has witnessed many cases where poor innocent people are locked behind bars, made to spend their lifetime in jails losing all their plesure of life and their future just because they were born poor, brought up ignorant and meek before the extraordinary law. Its not new that when there is a crime committed and the right criminal not found or in some cases if the criminal is an influenced person the innocent person is being forced to take up responsibilty of it. In that case the innocent does not have power or person to support him and loses not just years but his life. Keeping this in mind our constitution makers made such an article. So in a developing country like India where the powerful always try to see the loopholes this article is definitely a boon!!!
